"I Like School"

March 13, 2009---Anna Catherine's school program titled, "I Like School" took place this morning in the MAE gymnasium. The music teacher did a wonderful job of coordinating this program consisting of 8 kindergarten classes (approx. 200 children) singing songs about the things they have learned in school this year. It was a packed house---standing room only!! And there was very little precious standing room available. We arrived at 7:30 am for the 8:00 am performance and the best seat we could get was on the far right side near the back. And just our luck, Anna Catherine was on the far left side of the stage. During the group songs, she was on the bottom left riser which made it impossible to see her over hundreds of adult heads. During her class's solo, at which time they stood on a separate stage, she was on the very top riser. It was very hard to see her and I zoomed my camera in as far as possible. The lighting in an elementary school gymnasium is terrible for taking pictures and I am still learning to work my camera so please bear with me while I work on editing my pictures (Carrie, I need a tutorial!!).

AC is bottom center:

AC is top left in all of the following:

Chloe was mesmerized throughout the entire show:

"Reading" the program:

Jackson was less than thrilled to be there and he continually asked if we could go back to the van because he was tired. He's had a hard time adjusting to daylight savings time and hasn't been waking up until 8 am or later. I'm sure he was tired but he really needs to learn that world doesn't revolve around him. I wonder what gave him that idea?!?

Rick stood on the wall so he could videotape the parts when AC sang and danced. When other classes were on the solo stage, he took to his blackberry, checking e-mails and posting his status on facebook.

Afterwards, we were able to go up to the stage and talk to Anna Catherine. She had warned us, "We can say goodbye to our parents but we can't go home with them and we can't cry about it. That's what Mrs. Harrison (the music teacher) said."

A Beautiful Day in Oxford...until we lost

March 7, 2009---Last Saturday was a miserable day in Oxford but this weekend we had our beautiful day in Oxford. We were on the Square at 11 am, met Ryan for lunch at Proud Larry's, did some shopping, took over Square Books Jr. and Treehouse Toys for an undetermined amount of time, had dessert on the balcony of Square Books, and then headed to the Grove to play until tip-off. I know, you're jealous just reading this---LOL!!

Anna Catherine can't leave the Square without sitting in Mr. Faulkner's lap:

I'm sure there's some "smack talk" going on:

We met up with Oliver and Emily for a short time before the game:

Then we walked to the basketball game. It was a really good game but there were a lot of bad calls. In the end we lost by 2 points.

Jackson fell asleep within the first five minutes of being there. There was no way to lay him down so Rick had to hold him up.

The guy in the blue shirt (kind of in the middle) is the one and only Keith Carter. Star player for the Rebs 1996-1999, he is now the color commentator for Ole Miss basketball. I can remember back in the day when he wore knee socks and would jump on the press table and pump up the crowd....oh the memories...the Tad Pad was rockin' back then and I never missed a game...
This was the Cobra security guy in front of our section. Not very intimidating, huh? Whitney said she thought the two of us could take him. I said that I thought Jackson could take him--hahaha.

guess who was in a horrible mood when he woke up:

Fancy Nancy joined us for the ride home. Anna Catherine's best friend LOVES Fancy Nancy so AC is getting "into" her. AC had some birthday/allowance money that was burning a hole in her pocket and just had to be spent at Square Book Jr. She opted for Fancy Nancy items:

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

March 2, 2009---Madison Avenue Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss's 105th birthday by having the students dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character. Anna Catherine's favorite Dr. Seuss book is "Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?" , so she dressed up as Mr. Brown.

Playtime at the Park

There have been two days that our schedules and the weather have worked together and allowed the kids to have playtime at the park. The kids love going to the park. One day Marie, Anna Catherine's best friend, was able to meet us there.
