A Beautiful Day in Oxford...until we lost

March 7, 2009---Last Saturday was a miserable day in Oxford but this weekend we had our beautiful day in Oxford. We were on the Square at 11 am, met Ryan for lunch at Proud Larry's, did some shopping, took over Square Books Jr. and Treehouse Toys for an undetermined amount of time, had dessert on the balcony of Square Books, and then headed to the Grove to play until tip-off. I know, you're jealous just reading this---LOL!!

We met up with Oliver and Emily for a short time before the game:

Then we walked to the basketball game. It was a really good game but there were a lot of bad calls. In the end we lost by 2 points.

Jackson fell asleep within the first five minutes of being there. There was no way to lay him down so Rick had to hold him up.

The guy in the blue shirt (kind of in the middle) is the one and only Keith Carter. Star player for the Rebs 1996-1999, he is now the color commentator for Ole Miss basketball. I can remember back in the day when he wore knee socks and would jump on the press table and pump up the crowd....oh the memories...the Tad Pad was rockin' back then and I never missed a game...

This was the Cobra security guy in front of our section. Not very intimidating, huh? Whitney said she thought the two of us could take him. I said that I thought Jackson could take him--hahaha.

Fancy Nancy joined us for the ride home. Anna Catherine's best friend LOVES Fancy Nancy so AC is getting "into" her. AC had some birthday/allowance money that was burning a hole in her pocket and just had to be spent at Square Book Jr. She opted for Fancy Nancy items:

Rebelette For A Day...and SNOW

February 28, 2009---We were hoping for a beautiful Saturday in Oxford, walking and shopping around the Square, grabbing a bite of lunch, and then heading off to the basketball game. Anna Catherine was going to be a "Rebelette" at half-time and everyone was excited. Well, that is everyone was excited until we got sick. Jackson had to go to the doctor on the Tuesday before and was diagnosed with either a fever virus or pneumonia. Poor fella has only been to the doctor three times in his life (other than for shots/check-ups). He never gets sick but this time he was really sick! When we got to the doctor his temp was 102.4. You could feel the heat radiating off of him before you even touched him. He had a runny nose 24/7 and a barking cough. Jackson had been like that for two days. He also had teary, pink eyes, no appetite, and didn't want to drink fluids. The doctor prescribed an antibiotic that had Jackson back to normal within a few days, except for a lingering, barking cough. I was sick too but thought I could self-medicate with over-the-counter meds. They didn't work and I know I went through at least a dozen rolls of tissue that week blowing my nose. Chloe had felt a little bad but I chalked that up to her cutting her two-year-old molars). Rick and AC were just fine. No matter what anyone's health was we were heading to Oxford for the Bama game/Rebelette for a Day!!


We drove separate vehicles because Rick had to take a work truck to Tupelo after the game. It was a miserable drive, not only because I was sick but because there was a misty drizzle the entire time. After dropping off Anna Catherine at rehearsal we met Ryan, Brady, Tammy, and Whitney at Old Venice for lunch.








We picked up Anna Catherine from practice and headed to the basketball game so AC could strut her stuff!! She had a blast. She knew the dance move for move. The entire performance only lasts maybe a minute or two. But for a six year-old who LOVES Ole Miss to have the opportunity to dance with the Rebelettes on the court of the Tad Pad at half-time is priceless!!

The Rebs should have won that game but lost by 20 points instead. It was a terrible game!! As we walked out of the Tad Pad we were pelted with sleet and freezing cold wind. By the time we had walked to the van (that was parked at the Phi Psi house), it was snowing nice big flakes. We met up with the Bergerons for a quick dinner at Handy Handy...YUM YUM...bbq!! Too bad I couldn't taste it. I was feeling horrible and so wanted to get home quickly (but that didn't happen). We left Oxford around 6:30 pm and drove to Tupelo. It continued to snow until we were in Pontotoc County. The snow picked up again after we had gotten on the Trace and continued the entire way home. At times it was flurries and at others it was really coming down. We didn't get home until 11 pm. It was a very long day!! Even though areas north of Highway 82 (Grenada, Batesville, Pontotoc, Oxford, Memphis, Birmingham, etc.) had accumulated quite a bit of snow to the point that roads were closed, but there wasn't even enough to cover the ground at our house and what little we had had melted by 9 am Sunday morning.

**I went to the doctor the following Monday and had a severe sinus infection and pink eye in BOTH eyes!!! No wonder I felt so cruddy!! The doc gave me plenty of antibiotics and I am now feeling 110% better!! Oh, I gave Chloe pink eye in one eye but we have both recovered. I HATE BEING SICK!!!!!!!!!!**
